Region and District
With some 600,000 inhabitants, the Rhein-Sieg district is a strong business location with a sure future, an excellent business structure and sustained growth. With its 19 cities and municipalities, it is one of the regions of Germany to have shown the most dramatic development. Since its establishment through the 1969 reorganisation of municipalities, there has been consistently high growth in the numbers of inhabitants, jobs and companies.
The expansive development of existing business, the founding of successful new companies and the relocation of companies to the district are the principal causes of growth.
The appeal of the district to businesses and entrepreneurs principally lies in its superb location. In particular, its benefits include the fact that it directly borders Bonn and the metropolis of Cologne, its unusually prime location and superb transport links, above-average numbers of scientific, research and educational institutions, exceptionally highly qualified labour force potential and the wide range of attractive, reasonably-priced commercial property on offer.
The Economic Development Agency (Wirtschaftsförderung) is the principal contact for companies, entrepreneurs and investors in the Rhein-Sieg district.
